I've been at a bit of a standstill recently, not getting much art done, will try to post more soon.

Unfortunately, I do not post as often as I make. The walls in my home are full of my work, but I am not as great at documenting my process or finished pieces as I'd like to be. If you would like more detailed blog posts, please visit my personal blog or the blog of my NotSoTypicalBaby shop, thanks!

Goings on...

Happy New Year!

I am so looking forward to this new year. I have a few projects in the works & am hoping to figure out this juggling being a SAHM to my seperation anxiety ridden 6.5 month old & getting work done.

Speaking of which he's awake from his nap. :|

I have been inspired (by recent events & needing to get out of my funky mood) & decided to finally take on a bit of a project. It is something that I’ve longed to do.

Last year, I was inspired by my friend Christine Mills’ journey into Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma coinciding with my friend Jocelyn’s 4 year old son’s diagnoses of Leukemia. I would consider them both to be friends, however, we weren’t especially close. Their stories & strength touched me deeply & I think about them both daily.

I began doing “cathARTic creation” art therapy process painting classes with children in our preschool as well as friends & family close to Christine. It helped me cope & I believe helped others as well. She has had quite a cancer roller coaster ride, but the recent lows got me into process painting again.

I have previously explored more abstract work, but it was always more about the process than the product. I never really liked the outcome until one piece done after I read about Christine’s relapse. I couldn’t stop. I was on an abstract rampage. I think I did 10 paintings in 2 days.

Then, after this Tuesday, I was pretty bummed, but tried to stay positive for my 4.5 month old baby boy (more on him later). I started doing this painting (which I’ve submitted to become a banner in my town, cross your fingers it gets approved. :)) As I was painting, the light grew inside me once more.

I want to share the light & the love that I find in my own art with others. So, because of inspiration from a give & take community library, Olly Olly gallery owner & artist Jessica Kallista, the Facebook group “art abandonment”,  a post from an art teacher that I follow on Instagram, Cassie_Stephenz, which said “Make America Create Again”, I’ve decided to go on an art abandon rampage. Hopefully I’ll start later today if I can get my act together. I have some details to sort out, but I’m excited to begin. I have a few of those abstract pieces as well as a large number of small prints that I made ages ago. They never sold & I didn’t know what to do with them, until now.

What I would like to ask of those that take the art, is to share on here & in your own life, what love means to you. It is not required, but greatly appreciated. I will be including instructions along with each drop.

Sharing my art with the world & inspiring others to share is cathartic for me. I feel that it is one of my life’s purposes. I will start my love spread, here in Purcellville, VA, but hope to inspire more to create art, to write art, to spread love. The world needs all the love it can get these days, let it grow!

As I have previously mentioned, I am notoriously rotten at keeping up on my current events on social media. So much has happened. Firstly & most importantly, I became a mama! No work of art I could ever make can compare to making this beautiful human bean. His name is Calvin Milo. He was born June 17th & he is a ray of sunshine, even though tonight he had a bit of a hard time going down. Boo gas.

This is kind of an old photo. He has grown so much, I can't hardly believe it! I also turned 30, celebrated my 1 year anniversary, & moved! The move is another big event as it has made me staying home possible. I plan on focusing more on my artwork, which started today. It took about 10 days to get things put away enough to do my first painting in the new house. It's a raccoon, inspired by the raccoon my husband discovered in our new backyard last night.

We've been married over a month & I'm seriously loving every moment of it. Now back to real life! I will be getting back to posting new paintings & Not So Typical Baby goodies soon!

We're getting married!

Sigh, once again it's been too long. I'm going to be posting some new paintings today. I haven't mentioned on here yet, but I'm getting married next June, so I've been extremely busy with all of the planning & making of decorations. It's a lot of work, but I'm loving it. I ordered the Save the Dates last night. So much good stuff happening. Hope all is well with you!

So much for posting more often. I know, I've been slacking big time, but there's been a lot going on. I can't say what just yet, but something BIG! I hope to start getting prints up in the NSTB shop this weekend time permitting.

Silk screened 40 onesies today, only took pictures of maybe 15 of them when something fell on my background, tearing a hole in it. I hope to post a couple to etsy tonight. My computer has been slow recently, though, so not looking forward to all that uploading.
