About June

June Jewell is a fine & graphic artist residing in Purcellville, VA. She is currently a stay-at-home-mama to her one year old son, Calvin & loves every minute of it. June is sometimes able to work on her paintings at night when the little tater tot is in la la land. She loves painting quirky animals & nature subjects in unique color schemes, but has recently become obsessed with abstract works. They may not always be beautiful, but they are so oh so cathartic.

Background

Graduated from FIDM, Los Angeles with an Associates in Graphic Design in 2006.

Exhibited in numerous galleries in L.A. while living there, but most exclusively at Gallery at the End of the World.

Since moving to Northern VA in 2008, June has laid pretty low, but has shown at Hopps Art Lounge, Falls Church ARTSPACE, TRYST Gallery, & at the Purcellville Town Hall.

MOMMY'S LITTLE ART LOVER!

What can I say about Calvin? He's the best kid I could've hoped for. He has moments where he tests his limits, but overall is the best piece of art I've ever made.

When I decided to stay at home with him, I figured I would be able to do my art with him during the day. He would just play right next to me & I could get some work done. The many years in child care should've taught me that it would not be so easy. He does like to paint though & has been making art since he was 10 months old. He is also a great admirer of art & often points & talks to the animal paintings. He tells them good night & that he loves them & it makes my heart go pitter patter. I've made friends for him to talk to when it's just the two of us at home. I didn't know that when I was painting them, but am so glad that someone is appreciating my work.
